Design of a multi-use marine area off-shore the Mediterranean Sea

چکیده
The existing pressures on coastal areas are prompting the off-shore transfer of economic activities such as aquaculture, transportation, tourism, energy, leading to new challenges for sustainable use sea and calling integration different in same area. This paper conceptually designs a multi-use area mild sea, whose purpose is setup an energetically self-sustained fish farm. climate conditions aquaculture renewable energy production assessed first. features farm then designed, well system offering power support. A dedicated tool presented adopted set-up sizing electrical required stabilisation supply case not grid-connected. layout payback time finally examined, showing that wave systems still far make installation economically competitive.

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

15 صفحه اولMarine trade-offs: comparing the benefits of off-shore wind farms and marine protected areas
The drive to increase renewable electricity production in many parts of Europe has led to an increasing concentration of new wind energy sites at sea. This results in a range of environmental impacts which should be taken into account in a benefit-cost analysis of such proposals. In this paper, we use choice modelling to investigate the relative gains and losses from siting new windfarms off th...
متن کاملLagrangian Transport of Marine Litter in the Mediterranean Sea
Concern about marine litter has been rising in the last decades, triggered by the discovery of the great mid-ocean garbage patches. The Mediterranean Sea is strongly affected by the presence of floating litter, as it has a very high amount of waste generated annually per person that eventually ends up in its waters, with plastic objects accounting for a large percentage of all manmade debris. I...
متن کاملCommunity-wide effects of marine reserves in the Mediterranean Sea
We investigated the community-wide effects of no-take marine reserves at the regional scale in the Mediterranean Sea. Reserves had general positive effects of protection on fish targeted by fishing, and variable effects on non-target species. Differences in the structure of fish assemblages (in terms of abundance of species and trophic groups) were greater between geographic locations than when...
